Residency Director Biography
Dr. Tori Hudson, Naturopathic Physician, graduated from the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in 1984 and has served the college in several capacities, including Medical Director, Associate Academic Dean, and Academic Dean. She is currently a clinical adjunct professor at NUNM), Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, Bastyr University, and the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. Dr. Hudson has been in practice for more than 36 years, is the medical director of her clinic, “A Woman’s Time” in Portland, Oregon, co-owner and director of product research and education for VITANICA, and the program director for the Institute of Women’s Health and Integrative Medicine. She is also the founder and co-director of NERC (Naturopathic Education and Research Consortium), a non-profit organization for accredited naturopathic residencies.
Dr. Hudson has been appointed as a faculty member of the Fellowship in Integrative Health and Medicine, Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine.
Dr. Hudson was awarded the 1990 President’s Award from the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians for her research in women’s health, the 1999 prestigious Naturopathic Physician of the Year award, the 2003 NUNM Alumni Pioneer Award., the 2009 Natural Products Association Pioneer Award, and in 2012 was inducted into the NUNM Hall of Fame. In 2016,she was the recipient of the annual Oregon Association of Naturopathic Physicians’ “Living Legends” award.
In 2021 she received the 2020 American Botanical Council’s prestigious Fredi Kronenberg Excellence in Research and Education in Botanicals in Women’s Health Award for 2020.
She is a nationally recognized author (book: Women’s Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine second edition, McGraw Hill 2008), speaker, educator, researcher, and clinician. Dr. Hudson serves on several editorial boards, advisory panels, and as a consultant to the natural products industry. She also writes monthly columns and freelance articles for several publications.
Residency Director Biography
The founder and owner of Yellowstone Naturopathic Clinic, Dr. Beeson is a national leader in efforts to advance the quality of naturopathic care and integrate conventional and alternative medicine for patient benefit. She brings 40 years of medical experience to her practice, including a 20-year career as a nurse, certified midwife, physician assistant, and nutritional consultant. Before completing her naturopathic training at Bastyr University, she served in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps, and worked as a hospital and private practice nurse involved in surgery, recovery, acute and chronic care, ICU, psychiatry, allergies, nutrition, and environmental medicine. Dr. Beeson is committed to her Montana community, advancing clinical training for NDs, and collaborating with the conventional medical community.

Dr. Aschtgen is board certified in naturopathic oncology and specializes in integrative cancer care. He received his Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington and subsequently completed a two-year, hospital-based naturopathic medical residency at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), near Chicago, Illinois.
Upon returning to the Pacific Northwest in 2008, Dr. Aschtgen founded Seattle Integrative Oncology, which serves patients in Seattle, as well as Olympia and Everett – at Providence Regional Cancer Systems.

Residency Director Biography
Dr. Ian D. Bier is a naturopathic doctor, a licensed acupuncturist, has a Doctorate in Human Services with a focus on Therapeutic Nutrition, and is a Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology.
He is in private practice at Human Nature Natural Health in Portsmouth, NH, a 5,000 square foot facility focused on chronic disease care and Integrative Oncology Support. He and his practice were recently chosen to receive, “Best for Holistic Cancer Care Treatments NH for 2018,” “Best of Portsmouth Ambulatory Care” for 2017, and as one of Portsmouth’s “Top Docs” in 2016. He is Vice-chair of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology, and an active member of the Oncological Association of Naturopathic Physicians. He regularly lectures at national conferences on using primary research literature to provide evidence-based care to cancer patients.
Dr. Bier has held various research and academic positions including Director, Southwest College Research Institute; Associate Professor of Research and founding Dean, School of Acupuncture, Interim Clinic Director, Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences, founding Dean, School of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine at Rainstar University, as well as contributing towards the Naturopathic and Acupuncture National Board Examinations. As Dean he guided both programs through successful State and National Accreditation applications. He also completed the faculty certification program and briefly taught research for the University of Phoenix.

Stefani Hayes, ND, Lac is a Naturopathic Doctor and Licensed Acupuncturist in Portland, Oregon. She practices at Kwan Yin Healing Arts Center, West – a large integrative natural medicine clinic. Dr. Stefani Hayes loves offering a collaborative model of care to her patients. Her practice focuses on addressing women’s health and fertility concerns from a holistic perspective. She is skilled in addressing complex fertility cases by using an integrative, whole-body approach. She is specially trained in the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy, for fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum, as well as skilled in performing non-hormonal Intrauterine Inseminations (IUI). Dr. Stefani’s passion is assisting all types of families in realizing their goals of pregnancy. Her favorite experience is supporting single women and all types of couples through their preconception and fertility journey, adjunctively throughout pregnancy, and into a vital postpartum time.

Dr. Chang
Dr. David Chang is a board-licensed naturopathic physician and acupuncturist. He completed his six-year medical training and internship at the National College of Natural Medicine, where he received extensive training in Naturopathic primary care and Classical Chinese Medicine. His passion for medicine stemmed from his experience volunteering at a community clinic, where he witnessed the devastation caused by lack of access to care and poor health. Dr. Chang continued post-graduate training by completing a one-year residency here under Dr. Ilana Gurevich.
As an active athlete his whole life, Dr. Chang has taken a great interest in sports medicine and pain management. He knows the toll it can take on a person when their life is riddled with chronic pain and injuries. Dr. Chang wants to help people regain their quality of life and pursue an active, productive lifestyle.
Dr. Gurevich
Dr. Gurevich is a board-certified naturopathic physician and acupuncturist who graduated from the oldest accredited naturopathic medical school in the country, the National College of Natural Medicine. Her Chinese medicine training is in Classical Chinese medicine, which uses the ancient texts of China as the foundation of education. She integrates the healing powers of the mind, body and spirit to provide holistic healthcare for her patients.
Dr. Gurevich combines conventional medical diagnostics with effective natural therapies to restore the body’s innate ability to heal. She believes that the body has an inherent ability to cure itself, and she views her role as an assistant in that process. She can support the body’s natural balance, as well as remove obstacles to health. Dr. Gurevich relies heavily on her Chinese medicine training to provide further care for her patients.

Dr. Gurdev Parmar is co-founder and medical director of the largest naturopathic health care facility in Canada, the Integrated Health Clinic (IHC). He is licensed in both British Columbia, Canada and Washington State, USA. IHC was chosen as one of seven original clinics to participate in the Canadian and U.S. Integrative Oncology Study (CUSIOS), an ongoing, multi-clinic, prospective trial. Dr. Parmar has also completed an eight-year retrospective study on his treatment approach, which has been presented internationally, and has recently been published by Cambridge Scholars.
Dr. Parmar is residency director and primary teaching supervisor of a naturopathic oncology residency at IHC, a CNME-approved post-doctoral training facility for Bastyr University. Dr. Parmar established locoregional hyperthermia treatment in Canada in 2009, and in 2018, he was nominated President of the International Clinical Hyperthermia Society (ICHS). He has served on numerous boards over the years, including an appointment to the OncANP Delphi Panel which has begun building consensus statements for the naturopathic oncology field, the first of which was published in Integrative Cancer Therapies.
Dr. Parmar writes and lectures internationally on a wide variety of topics, including clinical hyperthermia, the tumour microenvironment, and integrative cancer care. He has served on the editorial board of several medical journals and is the Lead Author and Editor-in-Chief of the Textbook of Naturopathic Oncology: A Desktop Guide of Integrative Cancer Care, as well as the Pearlz Clinical eBook Series. Dr. Richardson is a Licensed Naturopathic Physician in the state of Washington and a primary care physician. She is the owner of both Naturopathic Family Medicine (located in Fremont) and Natural Healthcare NW (located downtown). Dr. Richardson received her doctorate degree from Bastyr University. In addition, she completed a residency in family medicine with a focus in pediatrics under her mentor Dr. Tamara Cullen Evans. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Plant Biology and graduated from Michigan State University with honors.
Dr. Richardson enjoys working with all ages and especially loves working with families. Dr. Richardson is passionate about understanding the cause of illness and educating her patients to help them make the most informed, least invasive decisions regarding the health of themselves and their family. The relationships she cultivates with her patients is extremely important to her and essential to helping her understand each of her patients as individuals. Dr. Richardson is very comfortable and knowledgeable in both conventional treatment options and alternative options and will help you determine what is best for you.

Dr. Standish is a neuroscientist and naturopathic physician living and working in Seattle WA. She holds faculty appointments at the University of Washington School of Medicine in the Radiology Department as well as at Bastyr University. She specializes in integrative oncology and neurology. She leads cancer research teams and holds an FDA IND for a phase I clinical trial of ayahuasca, a psychoactive Amazonian tea.
Dr. Standish is board certified in naturopathic oncology. Her research is focused on the Asian medicinal mushroom Trametes versicolor in the treatment of breast and prostate cancer; functional brain imaging in the treatment of brain cancer; and the development of integrative oncology outcomes studies. New projects using IV Resveratrol and IV Curcumin to treat cancer are being developed.

Dr. Lauren Young studied health psychology at the University of Connecticut and was involved in research on cardiovascular health at UCONN Medical Center. She received her doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the University of Bridgeport. Dr. Young worked in many integrative settings, from acupuncture for detoxification at Lincoln Memorial Hospital to naturopathic care at Yale affiliated Griffin Hospital. She has worked in integrative settings, side by side gastroenterologists and other specialists offering evidence based natural medicine to enhance conventional treatment and support the body’s natural ability to heal.
